Christmas family portraits, and portraits of children who will not stand still for one. Three setups in a single short afternoon, and a gallery of more than a hundred edited images at the end of it. Sessions run from 1 October to 22 December, daily from 10 in the morning until 8 at night.
Most of what we photograph in December is families, and the aim is never a stiff row of people facing front. The setups are built so a family can be inside them rather than arranged against them: sitting, leaning, holding somebody who has no intention of staying put.
The photograph that survives is almost never the one where everybody was looking at the camera. It is the one just after.
A Christmas portrait of a small child is a short window and every parent already knows it. That is the whole reason a mini session works: three setups, a short afternoon, and no expectation that a two year old performs for an hour.
We photograph children where they are rather than where a plan says they ought to be, which is why the ones on this page are climbing on things, holding cocoa, and mostly not looking at us.
Families are most of them, and most people assume that is the whole list. The setups do not care who stands in them. Couples book them. So do graduating students. So do parents who are expecting and want the last Christmas before everything changes.
If you have been putting it off because it looked like a thing for people with small children, it is not.
You get three Christmas setups in a single session, not one backdrop photographed from three angles. Sessions run daily through the season, from 10 in the morning until 8 at night, so there is a time that fits around school, work and everybody napping.
Afterwards you get an online gallery with every edited photograph from your session, open until January 7. Choose your ten favourites from all of it, and when choosing only ten feels impossible, keep every photograph for $75 plus GST. If the plan is a Christmas card, book earlier in the season rather than later.
